Inflammasomes and pyroptosis
Here we focus on understanding the inflammatory response, with particular emphasis on NLRs (Nucleotide-binding domain and Leucine-rich repeat containing Receptors) mechanisms during infection, autoimmunity, chemotherapy and tumorigenesis. These mechanisms include the production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines, IL-1beta and IL-18 as well as the newly characterized caspase-1 dependent cell death pathway and cell types.
